In evaluation, the C4 delivers the strengths OLED is known for: perfect black levels, excellent contrast, and very consistent image quality across the screen. Dark scenes benefit from the absence of blooming, and letterbox bars remain completely black, which gives movies a clean, cinematic look.
Compared to earlier C-series models, the C4 offers a modest but noticeable increase in brightness. HDR highlights have more impact, particularly in Dolby Vision content, while fine detail is preserved in both bright and shadowed areas. Color reproduction remains accurate and natural rather than exaggerated.
- Perfect blacks with no haloing
- Improved HDR brightness for an OLED panel
- Excellent color accuracy and upscaling
Gaming Performance
The C4 continues LG’s strong reputation for gaming-focused TVs. With full HDMI 2.1 support across all ports, it supports 4K at 120Hz, VRR, and ALLM, making it well suited for current-generation consoles and gaming PCs.
Motion clarity is excellent thanks to OLED’s near-instant pixel response, and input lag is low enough to satisfy competitive players. Fast-moving games benefit from crisp motion without visible smearing or ghosting.
- 4K 120Hz support with VRR and ALLM
- Compatible with G-SYNC and FreeSync
- Excellent motion clarity for fast-paced games
Audio and Smart Features
Built-in audio is clear and adequate for everyday viewing, particularly for dialogue-heavy content. As with most slim OLED TVs, bass output is limited, and a soundbar is recommended to better match the TV’s picture quality.
LG’s webOS platform remains one of the more user-friendly smart TV systems. Navigation is fast, app support is extensive, and the interface is easy to customize. Voice assistants and smart-home integration are also supported.
Pros
- Reference-level OLED contrast and black levels
- Strong HDR performance for an OLED TV
- Excellent gaming feature set
- Wide viewing angles and uniform picture quality
- Polished smart TV platform
Cons
- Not as bright as top Mini-LED TVs in very bright rooms
- Audio performance benefits from an external sound system
Verdict
When evaluated alongside other premium 65-inch TVs, the LG OLED evo C4 stands out as a well-rounded option that excels in picture quality and gaming performance. It is particularly well suited for movie enthusiasts and gamers who value contrast, viewing angles, and motion clarity.
Buyers deciding between OLED and brighter LED-based alternatives may also want to compare it with our Sony BRAVIA 9 Mini-LED review to determine whether brightness or OLED contrast is the better fit for their viewing environment.
